Kibler Valley
Posted November 6th, 2005 by davemiccKibler Valley is up and running again every Saturday! At least for July. Today we ran it twice. The first run was a little draggy but the second run was better (we think they started generating more). This run is in Patrick County, Virginia. It is the headwaters of the Dan River.
Kibler Valley
Posted November 6th, 2005 by davemiccGreat Trip. Water was a little low. I think this was the last scheduled recreational release for this year. We had some fun on a rope hanging from a tree where we stopped. Got to use my new prescription sunglasses. 8-)
French Broad
Posted November 6th, 2005 by davemiccThis section of the French Broad is just north of Asheville, NC. It is a very pretty class III run. We ran it at 1200 cfs which is low but still runnable. Most of the section has pretty continuous rapids except for the Windy Flats and a section below Kayaker's Ledge.
Big Creek
Posted November 6th, 2005 by davemiccWith the water still being up from all the rain we were able to run Big Creek Sunday afternoon. The whole run is littered with small rapids and rock gardens and there are three falls about two-thirds the way down. The first fall is probably class III+. During most of the run you are in the middle of the woods with no sign of civilization. Very fun, I wish it was runnable more often.

Dan River
Posted November 6th, 2005 by davemiccAfter all the rain we had gotten from the previous night we ran Jessup's Mill. We ran it at approximately three and a half feet. The river was really moving at this level and there were some nice waves. There is a creek that comes in to the left (Turkey Cock Creek?) that has a fall on it. Since there was some water on it David M, James C, Sammy A, Doug S, Bob R, Ed B and Franchone B decided to drag their boats up and run it. It wasn't very nice on the bottom of our boats but we can say we did it now.
