Class III rapids. The water was at 2.2 which is a good level to run it at. Alot of people went along so there are alot of pictures.

The biggest rapid was Eggleston Falls pictured above and was probably Class II+. Besides that it was mostly flat water except for one pretty good surf hole.

Dan River
Posted November 5th, 2005 by davemiccJoyce's Mill section, on the Dan River, is from Joyce's Mill road to Collinstown Road bridge. This trip was on November 27, 2004. There were probably some Class III rapids. The put in was private property but there was a sign saying fishing was allowed so we figured we might be alright. Very pretty scenery. The first few rapid's were the biggest. We scouted a rapid called "Coiled Cobra" in Forrest Altman's "The Dan River Book." (pictured right) In the end we all ran it to river left (right in the picture) falling over the drop and following the chute toward river right. There were alot of smaller rapids throughout the entire section. We had to make a portage around a dam toward the end. The take out was just below the dam.
