Historic Structures in Mayo River State Park
Posted December 11th, 2005 by davemiccApparently, some historic buildings designed by a student of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright have been noticed by the state and will be included into the Mayo River State Park. Additionally, money has been appropriated for four positions at the park. Hopefully this will bring even more attention to the State Park effort. News Source- News and Record

Mayo River State Park
Posted November 18th, 2005 by davemiccAs most of you know there is an initiative to create a state park along the Mayo River in North Carolina. This park would include Anglin's Mill. How long it will take depends largely on whether property owners are willing to sale land which may have been in their or their families possession for years. More information and developments can be found at http://www.ils.unc.edu/parkproject/explore/mari/new_home.html.
U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte
Posted November 17th, 2005 by davemiccThe U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) in Charlotte is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2006 according to its website. When completed the USNWC will be the "world's only multi-channel recirculating whitewater river" and it will be located just outside of Charlotte on the Catawba River. The courses will be changeable which will allow for runs of varying difficulty and class. There will also be a conveyor belt to take boaters back to the top!
